BADCY2

Brief & Programme The aim of this studio was to investigate the methodologies of climate resilient post-pandemic cities, exploring global environmental challenges and tackling “the many social and economic dimensions of this crisis, while focusing on the most vulnerable” (UN-HABITAT, 2020). This studio is part of a International Laboratory of Architecture and Urban Design (ILAUD) project called ‘Contemporary Cities under Shock and Stresses’ and has a strong focus on international cooperation between London, Berlin and Milan. The case studies and projects in this studio focus on the Lower Lea Valley in east London, stretching across the mostly industrial area between Stratford and the Leamouth, where the River Lea joins the River Thames. Special emphasis is put on the area’s history and ecology and on exploring the needs and requirements for resilient development in this specific context. Photo by Giulio Verdini River Lea
