ARCHITECT'S

The Faculty Council commissioned Sergio Los in 1983 to carry out Scarpa's project for the IUAV entrance. Through a systematic philological reconstruction of the studies and drawings that Scarpa had developed in the ten years from 1966 to 1976, Sergio Los was able to prepare the executive project and supervise the works. Since the restoration works carried out during the sixties at the Tolentini convent complex, the courtyard overlooking the Campazzo was left with a wooden fence that bordered the site and was waiting for a proper arrangement. Scarpa was commissioned to design the entrance of the school already operational and to fix a door in Istrian stones alvaged during the restoration work. Scarpa made two designs, a first project, published by Sergio Los with the CLUVA publisher in 1967, and shortly afterwards destroyed for political reasons; a second project which was approved by the Municipality of Venice and carried out after his death by his Sergio Los.
