The Architectural Gateway summer workshop was a collaboration with the critically acclaimed Finnish architect Sami Rintala. Sami’s work independently and with Rintala Eggertsson architects is often collaborative and works with the contingencies of context and the narrative between materials, site and inhabitant. The workshop sought to design a large-scale installation made of structural corrugated card that would serve as a monumental entrance to FAB FEST ‘18 and later to be deployed as a gateway for the Digital Construction Week event held at the Excel Centre. The week long workshop iterated a series of sketches, models and designs for the final installation with a group of students from across the School of Architecture + Cities.We are very grateful to the Finnish Institute in London for their generous support for this workshop.
