Expanding the transformation of the previous University workshops, the Fabrication Lab implemented a plan to reinvent the analogue making spaces on the sub-podium vastly improving, adding to and re-configuring the facilities, with the generous support of University and Quintin Hogg Trust funding. The plan to create an integrated series of making spaces with woodwork, metalwork, hot works, casting, exhausted room, materials and light lab and student model-making shop remodelled large areas of the existing workshops and materials labs to deliver a greatly enhanced student experience for fabrication and model-making. With a dedicated project space to host group design projects, soft model-making processes and assembly, this new combined platform established an enhanced and expanded capability for the School of Architecture + Cities.
