Wood Essentials aims to give you all the essential knowledge and confidence to start using the woodshop and making with wood. The course has two parts, an online part and a practical parts. The online part is divided into sections. In section one you will gain a basic understanding of the material before moving on to learn how to safely use the woodshop, following on to be introduced to the tools you will use.
Before you an book into the practical part you need to know how to complete it. This will be a short video demonstrating how to machine a part based on the principles you have learnt from the previous sections.

What is wood and what are its material properties.

Learn the basic material properties of wood and its process from forest to final product. This will help inform how you use it in fabrication.
