ARCHITECT'S
The city of São Paulo has few exclusive bridges for pedestrians and cyclists. In front of the São Paulo headquarters of the German multinational Bayer, the bridge is located at the confluence of the Pinheiros River with the overflow channel of the Guarapiranga dam. By connecting the two banks, the bike path parallel to the river is extended and brings citizens, company workers and the community closer to the Santo Amaro subway station. In addition to connecting, it creates a place to be and enjoy the landscape. Two metallic islands that structure the 90 meters extension become stop spaces in the middle of the flow. To maintain the navigability of the channel, the central span is mobile: the halves of this central linear structure are rotated by means of electric motors.
